Course Objective
The objective of the course is to deepen students’ theoretical and applied knowledge in microeconomic analysis and to develop their ability to analyse the decision-making of economic agents under conditions of uncertainty, asymmetric information, and various market structures. The course focuses on modelling the behaviour of consumers, firms, and the state, and on identifying their optimal strategies in individual markets. Emphasis is placed on linking microeconomic theory with practical cases from business practice, economic policy, and market regulation, as well as on developing analytical and critical thinking in evaluating microeconomic problems and formulating optimal solutions.
Knowledge
Students who successfully complete the course possess advanced knowledge of microeconomic theory, particularly in consumer theory, theory of the firm, market structures, strategic behaviour, and the microeconomic effects of public intervention. They understand the mechanisms of decision-making by economic agents under uncertainty and asymmetric information and are familiar with the application of microeconomic models to the analysis of real market situations. They are able to identify mutual microeconomic relationships among market participants and understand their implications for the allocation of production factors and market efficiency.
Competencies
Through the study of advanced microeconomics, students acquire competencies to analyse the behaviour of consumers, firms, and the state using advanced microeconomic tools. They are able to assess the impact of public policies, regulation, and competition on the decision-making of economic agents and on market efficiency. The acquired competencies enable them to formulate, justify, and defend microeconomic recommendations in both business practice and economic policy.
Skills
Students acquire skills to apply microeconomic models to solve specific practical case studies across various market structures. They are able to work with empirical data, search for and process datasets for microeconomic analysis, interpret analytical results, and critically assess the behaviour of market participants. They are able to present the results of microeconomic analyses and defending their conclusions based on economic analysis.
