The aim of the course is to acquire and further develop communicative skills in general conversation with the focus on grammatical accuracy, to expand vocabulary, acquire the ability to reproduce a simple text on general topics, acquire the basics of argumentation and discussion, understand and reproduce basic knowledge about the civilisation of the target language at A2.1 level. After completing the course, the student is able to understand phrases and the most common vocabulary in relation to topics that concern him/her directly (e.g., basic information about himself/herself and his/her family, shopping, local area, job). He/she can understand the meaning of short, clear and simple messages and announcements, is able to read short, simple texts. He/she is able to identify particular predictable information in simple everyday texts such as advertisements, brochures and timetables and can understand short, simple personal letters or e-mail messages. He/she is able to communicate in simple and common situations requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities. He/she can handle short social contacts, he/she can easily describe his/her family, living conditions, his/her education and work. He/she is able to produce a brief and simple written text on the topics studied.

Indicative content

1. Orientation in space. Basic and compound local prepositions. Accommodation.
2. Travel. Means of transport.
3. Using estar-hay. Room description.
4. Express the weather, orientation in time and space.
5. Parts of the human body. Diseases.
6. Imperfecto-indefinido (past narrative and description).
