Language knowledge: The aim of the course is to convey basic knowledge of a foreign language at the A1 level. After completing the course, the student understands familiar expressions from everyday life and basic phrases aimed at satisfying specific needs and can also use them.
Language skills: The student knows how to read simple texts, understands common vocabulary in topics from everyday communication, understands basic information and the main topic of spoken speech. He can communicate in simple situations, ask simple basic questions and answer them, he is able to talk about himself, his family, profession, hobbies, express consent and disagreement, ask for information and also provide it. In written communication he can fill in a simple form, write a short e-mail, postcard and a simple letter.
Language competences: The student is open to the target culture, to people speaking the target language. He builds a positive attitude towards people for whom German is their mother tongue and towards German-speaking countries. He also begins to compare the German-speaking environment with Slovakia.

- Free time activities. Sentence structure. Verb “can”
- Irregular verbs
- Days of the week, months. The position of the verb in a sentence.
- Time. Preposition of time.
- Food. Expressing wishes.
- Food and drinks. Word formation.
- Transport
- Travelling. Separable verb prefixes.
- Everyday activities.
- Past tense – the perfect
- Seasons of the year, months of the year
- Perfect forms of the verbs “haben, sein”. Past simple tense – preteritum.
