Teaching results
Students will possess following abilities:
- in the field of international transport and logistics within the framework of business on international markets and the internal market of the European Union,
- on the structure of the international transport and logistics market, the entities and contractual relationships that govern their functioning;
- on the practical application of transport documents necessary for the execution of export and import operations between the EXW and DDP border parities according to INCOTERMS 2020,
- on the specifics of individual transport modalities.
Students will obtain following skills:
- autonomy in solving specific problems in the field of international business and international transport and logistics, and
- in the field of practical application of the implementation of international business operations from the point of view of the delivery of goods based on the purchase contract with a focus on documents and delivery conditions.
Students will gain following competences:
- efficient management of international transport and logistics,
- negotiation and decision-making on transport conditions, concluding transport contracts,
- manage and control the fulfilment of contracts, delivery conditions according to Incoterms, issue transport documents and put them into circulation.
Indicative content
The content of the course is the deepening of knowledge in the field of international transport and logistics and their commercial part dedicated to the transport of goods on selected transport routes and according to the specifics of individual transport modalities. Students will learn how to conclude contracts in transport and work with them before, during and after the implementation of a business operation.

1. Structure of the international transport market: demand, supply, price. 2. Core competencies of transport and logistics service providers. 3. Documents used in transport and logistics: nature, functions and importance of documents. 4. Road freight transport: explain its continental nature, the most important organizations, conventions and documents from an international point of view. 5. Rail freight transport: explain its continental character, the most important organizations, conventions and documents from an international point of view. 6. Inland waterway freight transport: explain its continental nature, the most important organizations, conventions and documents from an international point of view. 7. Sea freight: explain its intercontinental nature, the most important organizations, conventions and documents from an international point of view. 8. Air freight: explain its intercontinental nature, the most important organizations, conventions and documents from an international point of view. 9. Specifics of business operations in the transport of dangerous goods. 10. Specifics of commercial operations in the intermodal transport of goods. 11. International logistics market structure: demand, supply, price. 12. Transport policy in the European Union and in the Slovak Republic. 13. Business models in international freight transport and logistics, practical examples.
Requirements to complete the course
10 % active participation;
20 % control written work;
10 % project (PowerPoint presentation) and its discussion;
60 % written exam.
