Indicative content
Case studies based on the realities of economic development and economic policy. Topics are adapted to the economic realities from which the case studies draw. The curriculum is therefore partly flexible. Areas on which the case studies are based:
1. The macroeconomic development of the Slovak Republic and the factors influencing it
2. Implementation of macroeconomic policies (CS in the field of fiscal, monetary, stabilisation policies)
3. Implementation of microeconomic economic policies (CS on income policies, labour market policies, competition policies)
4. Specifics of economic policy and economic development in historical stages, social arrangements or different parts of the world.
For each topic there are common elements: justification for the choice of the subject of the case study, selection of the subjects to be studied and the necessary data, justification of the phenomena studied, drawing conclusions and policy recommendations.
Support literature
OECD Economic Surveys: Slovak republic (various years of issue). OECD Publishing, Paris.
2024 European Semester: Country Reports. European Commission, Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs.
Morvay, Karol a kol. Hospodársky vývoj Slovenska. (various years of issue), Ekonomický ústav SAV, Bratislava.
Palenčárová, J., Kročitý, P. (2012). Akademická príručka na tvorbu odborných textov. Trenčín: VŠM.
Students will use a wide range of available literature in the preparation of their studies; analytical materials of the European Commission, OECD, ECB, MF SR, NBS are recommended. However, it is not possible to define all the literature in advance, its use depends on the needs of individual case studies and the way of their processing.
