Co-researcher and project manager (2015 - 2018), Universities and economic development of regions (UNIREG), University of Economics in Bratislava, Agency APVV - project no. APVV-14-0512. Goal: Universities are considered to be the driving force of economic development and their impact is concentrated mainly in the regions where they are located. Our project will focus on the study of the economic importance of universities for the development of regions from four different perspectives. We will examine their short-term regional economic impact which will be quantified using an I-O analysis. We also examine the long-term impact of universities on business development and human capital in the host region. Specifically, we will discuss the impact of universities on the development of innovative business through the creation of university spin-off companies. We will also address the efficiency and effectiveness of regional development policies through support of universities. https://www.researchgate.net/project/Universities-and-economic-development-of-regions

Co-researcher (2019 - 2022),/ New tasks of universities in regional innovation systems, University of Economics in Bratislava, VEGA Agency - project no. 1/0605/19. Several authors identify four major concepts about the new roles of universities - the model of the business university, the model of the regional innovation systems, the Mode 2 model and the model of the engaged university. The Slovak Republic is a specific country with high economic growth and low innovation performance, which is a very specific situation, and the recognition of the functioning of universities in such a system is also a shift in international knowledge.

Co-researcher (2013 - 2015), The future of EU cohesion policy 2014 - 2020, University of Economics in Bratislava, VEGA Agency - project no. 1/0207/13. According to a Swedish public policy evaluation expert, evaluation implies looking backward in order to better steer forward.”(Vedung). This is especially true for societal policies, such as the European Union's cohesion policy. Its importance is growing with the constant expansion of the transnational grouping as well as the increasing impact of measures on various areas of development in different regions of this territory. Ultimately, this is reflected in the huge amount of funding allocated to support development through the European Union's cohesion policy

Co-researcher (2015 - 2017), Evaluation of support for innovation from EU structural funds, University of Economics in Bratislava, VEGA Agency - project no. 1/0098/15 /Innovations are considered one of the key factors of economic growth. That is also why the European Union within cohesion policy seeks to support the development of innovation in lagging regions as well. However, for their positive impact isvery important setting up this support correctly. Current theoretical and practical approaches such as e.g. concept of smart specialization (McCann and Rodríquez Pose, 2012) point to the fact that each region should take the form and adapt the content of this support to individual regional conditions (Capello 2013). On the other hand this support is often spent inefficiently and often leads to the so-called "Building cathedrals in the desert." The project will address how to support innovation in EU regional policy in the 2007-2013 programming period, focusing on both the assessment of the impact and effectiveness of this support and the procedural aspects that affect these results. The result will be the identification of key factors that influence the benefits of support from SF for innovation activities in these regions.

Principal Investigator (2015), eVALU8 - Learning by Evaluating - Increasing the quality of research in public policy assessment. UEBA, VUB Foundation (Intesa San Paolo) Annotation of the project: In the society of the 21st century we observe an increasing interest in the transparent use of public funds. It is not enough simply to note the results of support, we need to assess with relevant indicators their effective and efficient use, as well as their sustainable impact. Analyses of this type, however, require appropriate methodological literacy of the evaluators. The members of Department of Public Administration and Regional Development are dealing with policy evaluation a long time, however, modern techniques and methods of evaluation are in these studies absent. Research seminars and consultations with foreign experts in policy evaluation should therefore contribute to the rise of publications quality in the research team. Generally, this project aims to improve the quality of research in the evaluation of support programs at the Department of Public Administration and Regional Development. The benefit of the project would be to create a network of domestic and foreign experts for future cooperation in this field of research. The project will also contribute to improving the quality of publications of young scientists and empowerment of department in this research field. The final publication will serve as a basis for the practice of regional policy in Slovakia that is of interest of policy makers right at the moment of change of programming periods within the European Union.
