Teaching results
Building graduates' legal awareness of the regulation of tourism at the international, European and national (Slovak) level. Successful completion of the education process will give the graduate the ability to orientate himself/herself in the relevant legislation that focuses on tourism business in the Slovak Republic, including the related branches of Slovak public (e.g. administrative law, collective labour law, financial law, etc.) and private law (commercial law, consumer law, intellectual property law, etc.) and their main institutes. The acquired knowledge will enable graduates to apply the law even in an environment of constant legal order’s changes.
Practical skills: Ability to navigate the legal order of the Slovak Republic. Ability to work with effective legislation, search information and legal portals (e.g. slov-lex.sk), registers and gazettes. Ability to make simple legal submissions (whether as a tourism service provider or consumer) to public authorities and to draft contracts typical of the tourism.
Competence: Ability to choose the appropriate legal regulation and apply it in practice.
Indicative content
Introduction to tourism law. International and European sources of tourism law. National sources of tourism law. Subjects of tourism law. Forms of business in tourism. Employment relationship and agreements on work performed outside the employment relationship. Contractual relations in tourism. The most commonly used contractual types in tourism. Consumer contracts and consumer protection. Protection of passengers' rights in air, rail, bus and boat transport. Alternative dispute resolution and civil proceedings in tourism. Promotion of tourism in the Slovak Republic. Digital platforms and Slovak tourism.
