Knowledge
Student will gain knowledge of human resources management in hospitality and gastronomy at a level corresponding to full or partial responsibility for department and also knowledge about labor law.
Competencies
Student will be capable of full or partial management of subordinates, including students in vocational training, students in post educational training and other alternative contract types of employment / contracting of labor (e.g. part-time, contractual, trade license holders, etc.).
Skills
Student will gain skills necessary to manage human resources in tourism enterprises, with the focus on hospitality and gastronomy. Furthermore to plan demand of personnel, creation of job descriptions, creation of job adverts, management of onboarding of new personnel, interview of applicants, creation of motivational strategies with the aim to accelerate labor productivity and retention of employees.

Indicative content

The course of Talent management in the hospitality industry is focused on human resource management in hospitality and gastronomy enterprises, creation of job descriptions, onboarding, motivation, retention and remuneration of personnel. Also the subject of labor law and its application will be handled.

Syllabus

1. Importance of human resources in service industry. 2. Definition of labor demand in the operation of hotels, restaurants and other services in tourism. 3. Job description in hospitality and gastronomy. 4. Basic cost calculations of labor in different departments in the tourism industry. 5. Types of labor contracts and their differences in their real-life application. 6. Job offers, personal interviews and selection process of new employees. 7. Internal and external marketing and social media in the human resources management. 8. Vocational training, post educational training, and practical training of university students in the tourism industry. 9. Employee motivation in tourism. 10. Labor law in tourism with the focus on operating a tourism enterprise, it´s application and use. 11. Work schedules, task schedules in the tourism industry. 12. Best practice and real-life scenarios in the human resources management. 13. Cooperation with organizations / representatives of employers and industry expert associations, public and state organizations in the human resources management in tourism.
