Teaching results

By completing the course, students gain knowledge about basic financial products. They will learn the basic principles of financial literacy for different life situations and stages. They will gain knowledge about the correct setting of financial products according to individual life situations.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will acquire competencies that will enable them to communicate effectively and efficiently with financial service providers. After mastering financial literacy, the graduate will be able to independently analyze and address the needs of insurance, creation of reserves and capital, housing finance and pensions.
The graduate of the course will be able to orientate in the offer of financial products on the market for personal consumption. They will learn to prepare and process materials for personal financial analysis and planning. He will be able to distinguish between good and bad credit. They will learn the rules of effective capital building.

Indicative content

Introduction to the world of finance. Financial literacy. Financial needs of individuals and households. Consumer protection in the financial market. Personal finance plan and its creation. Insurance and life insurance and non - life insurance products. Creating a reserve. Housing financing. Preparing for retirement. Funding for study and start-ups for children. Capital building and management. Financial intermediation.

Syllabus

1. The world of finance - financial services and the role of money in personal life. 2. Financial literacy - definition, standards. 3. Financial needs of individuals and the most common problems in the financial market and their consequences. 4. Consumer protection in the financial market and institutions providing protection and assistance. 5. Personal finance plan, its creation and setting. 6. Income, self and family insurance - possible solutions and the correct setting of insurance in various life situations. 7. Property insurance - home and household insurance, motor vehicles, travel insurance. 8. Creation of a reserve - the role of a reserve, the importance of creating a reserve and methods of its creation. 9. Financing of housing and other purposes - loans (good and bad loans), parameters, the right setting, living with a loan, tax bonus for young people, building savings. 10. Preparation for retirement - demography, 2nd and 3rd pillars, other ways of securing for retirement. 11. Study and start life for children - creating savings to finance these specific needs. 12. Capital formation and management - investments and investment decisions, cost average effect. 13. Financial intermediation - how to choose correctly between the offer on the market.

Requirements to complete the course

40 % continuous activity in seminars
60 % project elaboration and its defense (exam)

Student workload

Workload: 52 hours
Attendance at seminars: 26 hours
Elaboration of a semester project: 16 hours
Preparation for the final defense of the project: 10 hours
