Knowledge
Students will acquire a broad set of knowledge necessary to understand the importance of international passenger air transport in tourism, focusing on the synergy of the main actors in this industry. They will be able to distinguish individual types of air carriers, taking into account the hybridization of air carriers' business models.
Competencies
Based on the acquired knowledge, they will be competent in creating air transport products, in terms of preparing charter flights for the needs of travel agencies, including the basic principles of creating air carrier flight schedules. Students will also be able to design individual fare classes for both traditional and low-cost air carriers.
Skills
Their skills will be reflected in the comprehensive ability to prepare an air transport product for the needs of tourism participants. By completing the course, students will also improve their skills in teamwork, critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving in the field of air transport in tourism.
Indicative content
The course Air Transport in Tourism deals with the role of individual key entities necessary for the smooth provision of air transport in tourism. It emphasizes individual airline models, their different approaches to the scope of services provided to passengers included in the price of a ticket. It deals with the process of purchasing airline tickets, as well as factors affecting their prices. In a broader context, the course deals with the economic importance of international passenger air transport as well as individual attributes of its safety. The course also includes a professional excursion to the M.R. Štefánik Airport in Bratislava.

Syllabus
1. The importance and status of international passenger air transport in the international environment. 2. Selected performance indicators in air transport. 3. Safety in air transport. 4. Actors in international passenger air transport (airlines and their suppliers, airports and their suppliers, air traffic services, passengers). 5. Differentiation of types of air carriers (classic, low-cost, charter, A.C.M.I carrier). 6. Transport classes of air carriers with a focus on different air tariffs. 7. Principles of airline flight schedule creation. 8. The most important airlines in passenger transport on the international market. 9. Marketing communication of airlines and their reputation. 10. Searching and purchasing airline tickets through airlines/through intermediaries. 11. Services available during the process of purchasing airline tickets (before departure, during the flight, after arrival). 12. Factors affecting the price of air tickets. 13. Professional excursion to M.R. Štefánik Airport in Bratislava.
Requirements to complete the course
40 % semester project;
10 % seminar activity;
50 % written exam.
