Knowledge
By completing the subject IATA - financial services in air transport, students will acquire a vast knowledge base in the field of institutional security of air transport within international institutions that shaped the development of international passenger air transport. Emphasis will be placed on the International Air Transport Association (IATA), where students will learn about its many roles, functions, services and tools for its members.
Competences
Based on the acquired knowledge, they will be competent to master the basic principles of Billing and Settlements Plan, IATA Clearing House as well as other financial instruments/services of the IATA organization.
Skills
By completing the subject, students will improve their skills in the field of analytical and critical thinking, teamwork and problem solving in B2B relations in international passenger air transport.

Indicative content

The subject IATA - selected financial services in air transport will deal with a set of basic knowledge necessary for understanding the importance of institutions in international passenger air transport (IATA - International Air Transport Association, ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization, EASA - European Aviation Safety Agency). Emphasis will be placed on the International Air Transport Association (IATA), its functions and the financial services of Simplified Invoicing and Settlement (Simplified Invoicing and Settlement) in the specification of clearing between airlines, airlines and suppliers (Clearing house), airlines and recipients (outside Clearing house). The subject will also deal with taxes and fees in the IATA agenda, as well as a practical example of the use and application of selected IATA financial services.

1) Institutional provision of international passenger air transport in the world and in Slovakia 2) International organizations in air transport: IATA International Air Transport Association and others ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization, EASA - European Aviation Safety Agency 3) IATA basic functions 4) Meaning of airport codes and codes of international passenger air carriers according to IATA in air transport and tourism 5) Actors in international passenger air transport and their relations in the organization of passenger transport 6) Schemes resulting from the mutual financial relations of the actors 7) Taxes and fees in the IATA agenda (direct, indirect, environmental, special) 8) Integrated invoicing and settlement solution. Simplified invoicing and settlement - Simplified Invoicing and Settlement (SIS) 9) Integrated accounting for airlines Revenue Accounting 10) Integrated settlement of supplier centers Clearing house 11) Integrated settlement for a recipient outside the Clearing house 12) Practical examples of the use and application of selected IATA financial services in the airline-airline relationship 13) Practical examples of the use and application of selected IATA financial services in the relationship between the airline and service providers

Requirements to complete the course

70% combined exam, which will consist of an oral defense of the semester project as well as a written test of the theoretical knowledge acquired during the semester
30% student activity during the semester (fulfilment of partial tasks, active participation of students in seminars)
