Teaching results

By completing the course, students will gain an overview of the economic, political and institutional developments and functioning of the EU, as well as theoretical approaches to European integration. They will become familiar with key institutional actors, their mutual relations and influence on events in the EU, as well as with basic EU policies and the functioning of the EU budget.
Knowledge and understanding:
- acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of development and functioning of the EU
- acquire information about interinstitutional relations in the EU
- acquire knowledge in the area of functioning of EU policies and the EU budget
- become familiar with basic legislative and conceptual documents of the EU
Skills:
- improve skills in understanding the functioning of the EU
- analyze and theorize on practical issues of EU integration
- analyze, compare and evaluate events and development trends in the EU
- apply the acquired knowledge in the analysis of economic development in the EU
- ability to competently prepare a presentation using modern means of communication, to lead a discussion on current issues and problems of the development and functioning of the EU in a refined and constructive manner
Competences:
- Understand the links and connections between basic economic, social and institutional relations, processes and developments in the EU
- combine knowledge and skills from economics, international economics, European studies using an interdisciplinary approach in the field of social sciences
- master the principles and mechanisms of the creation and functioning of the EU budget
- use specific and core competencies for the needs of socio-economic practice, with an emphasis on the field of EU functioning
