Knowledge
Students will gain knowledge of basic facts about economic development, theories and sources of economic growth, the role of institutions in development, relations between development, inequalities and environment.
E.g. they will be able to explain the differences between proximate and fundamental sources of growth and provide empirical facts about their importance for economic development.
Skills
Students will acquire skills for the analysis of data on economic development based on standard procedures in this area and will be able to communicate their results clearly in the form of graphs and tables.
E.g. based on Penn World Tables 10.1 database they will be able to construct a figure to test beta-convergence hypothesis for sample of countries and to interpret and present the results.
Competences
Students will be able to support their claims about economic development with facts from international statistics and empirical studies on economic development.
Students will be able to give an engaging presentation on a selected area of economic development.
