- understand the selected key areas of financial management of a company. We will put specialfocus on capital structure and financial stability.
- apply the acquired theoretical knowledge to the solution of practical examples also in connectionwith the integration of the Slovak economy into the European and world economy.
- Develop students' analytical skills, including the formulation of practical proposals for specific problems in the field of corporates finance
I. Knowledge and understanding
After studying this subject, students will be able to:
- Apply the acquired knowledge to analyse and understand the key issues, theories and conceptualframeworks related to corporate finance and financial management;
- Discuss a variety of theories of corporate finance and financial management to producerecommendations and support effective decision making in practice;
- Understand the role and importance of financial management in a company;
- Evaluate, justify and apply research in the field of corporate finance.
II. Skills
After studying this subject, students will be able to:
- communicate key issues and arguments related to corporate finance and financial management;
- describe problems and issues related to corporate finance in new and diverse situations, clearly argument on them and draw appropriate and useful recommendations,
- Apply and synthesize knowledge from the field of corporate finance.

After studying this subject, students will be able to:
- work as an individual or as a member of a professional team or as a team leader in the field of corporate finance,
- critically analyze financial management issues and draw conclusions.

• Financial and capital structure and their determinants, financing rules, financial stability
• Management of financial processes of the companye, financial analysis, financial health of the company
• Analysis of financial statements (balance sheet, Profit and loss statement, CF statement)
• Financial performance of companies
• Capital costs and their importance in investment and financial decision-making of the company
• Impact of risk on capital structure (operating and financial risk, risk of financial distress),
• Models of the optimal capital structure and their practical application,
• Dividend theory and policy,
• Company valuation models, practical application,
• Mergers and aquisitions and their relation to capital structure,
• Financial problems of a company
• Other current topics in the field of corporate finance

50% of the grade can be obtained during the semester for work on seminars (max. 50 points, min. 26 points) – mid-term tests, solving case studies
