Results of education:
The course focuses on active scientific research reflection on a set of selected relevant theoretical assumptions in the field of linguistics of the language under study and on the possibilities of their practical grasp within the framework of a specific research question in the relevant doctoral thesis.
Knowledge:
After completing the course, the student knows the structure and relationships in the system, knows the system characteristics of the studied language, historical and cultural contexts, principles of functioning of the applied language, can have a deeper understanding of the linguistic system of the studied language, and on this basis has an overview of the possible theoretical bases conceived in the field of linguistics and its related disciplines, important from the point of view of the chosen topic of the doctoral thesis.
Competencies:
The student can critically assess existing linguistic theories in an interdisciplinary context, is able to select appropriate theoretical starting points, and assess their potential for solving his/her research question, is able to reflect on the possibilities of applying theoretical aspects in practice; in the context of the acquired knowledge, he/she is also able to apply the studied language in various communicative situations and purposefully work towards an optimal communicative effect.
Skills:
They are able to propose their own innovative ways of grasping the research question and to translate them into concrete solutions to the topic of their doctoral thesis; at the same time, they are able to apply the acquired knowledge in the production of their own linguistic expression in the target language in such a way that this linguistic expression is appropriate for the specific communicative situation.
